Admissions Arrangements

St Peter's C of E Primary School is a Voluntary Aided school. The admission arrangements are the same as in Community schools where the Local Authority is responsible for all admissions.  Please find a link to the relevant section on the Wirral Borough Council here

FOUNDATION 2

Children usually start school in the school year (September – August) in which they will have their 5th birthday.  Parents will be required to apply for a place at our school between the beginning of September and mid December in the school year before they are due to start school (If your child is 5 between 1 September 2024 and 31 August 2025 you will need to apply for a place at our school between September and January 2025) this is done through the LEA. Children whose parents have applied in this way and live in our catchment area will most likely be offered a place. The new code of admissions however means we cannot guarantee this, due to variations in parental preferences.

KEY STAGE 1 (YEARS 1 & 2)

Children whose parents wish them to join our school during these years, and live in our zone will be granted a place only if there are less than 30 in these classes (45 in the year group)
Again children living in the catchment area will have priority.

KEY STAGE 2 (YEARS 3, 4, 5 & 6)

Children requiring a place in one of these years, and who live in the catchment area,
will usually have a right to a place.

OUT OF ZONE in year ADMISSIONS

All families who request an out of zone admission place will be considered for a place only if there are vacancies.

OFSTED visited us in January 2024 - here are some of their comments...

"Pupils are proud to belong to this caring school community. They are supported to build firm foundations which enable them to be ‘shining bright’ during their time at school."

"Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), rise to the school’s high expectations of their achievement and behaviour. Pupils achieve well. They also behave well and are kind to each other."

"The school identifies the additional needs of pupils with SEND quickly and accurately."

"Pupils benefit from the clear and consistent routines that the school has established for behaviour. In the Nursery and Reception classes, the youngest children listen attentively. These positive attitudes to behaviour are built on throughout the school."

"The school prioritises opportunities for pupils to develop their moral and social awareness. "

"Governors understand what the school does well and what further improvements need to be made."
